HOW TO BUILD A POSITIVE MINDSET

The 3 key steps to build a positive mindset

Imagine having a mindset that reinforces positive thoughts and feelings about your environment and yourself.

Supports you in every single moment and helps you create the life of your dreams.

Imagine you are living passionately, powerfully and purposefully.

Moreover, each day you are waking up doing what you love and loving what you do.

You are unstoppable.

What would you say if I would tell you that it's actually possible?

Would you be ready to take small actions towards it?

IF YES

The first step you want to take is to build a supportive mindset.

That's why you are going to learn about the top 3 keys steps to build a positive mindset.

  1. Visioning

  2. Responsibility

  3. Opportunity

Plus, make sure to read until the end, because I have a Bonus Key Step for you, which was crucial for me to build the positive mindset I have today.

Watch the video below or continue reading to learn how!

First Key: Visioning

Before you can create actions in the present to build a positive mindset, you have to vision yourself and get clarity around what exactly you want to experience in your own life and how it feels like to have a positive mindset.

Your Vision is all about you.

Moreover, it will help you decide in which direction to move and help you find out who you want to be or what you want to experience in life.

Your vision has to be :

  • purposeful,

  • exciting,

  • fulfilling,

  • inspiring

How about doing a visioning exercise together? Shall we?

Exercise:

Imagine that it's 1 year from now and you are living purposefully, passionately and powerfully with a positive mindset.

Each day you're enjoying every single moment and creating positive actions around your positive thoughts and feelings.

While you are visioning about experiencing life with a positive mindset, don't be afraid to dream big and let your imagination flow.

Everything is possible.

Never forget you are unlimited and you have the power to create the life of your dreams.

Be specific and incorporate as many aspects of your life as possible.

Here are some sample questions to ask yourself :

  • How is your positive mindset supporting you in your life?

  • How does it feel like to have a positive mindset?

  • What are your current thoughts and feelings?

  • How do you handle life's challenges?

  • What impact do you have in others life?

  • What is your social life?

  • What kind of relationships, friendships do you have?

  • Do you have a support group or likeminded friends, who empower you and your journey?

  • What is your attitude toward life?

  • What do you do for your mental or physical health?

(Write some bullet points down. You are going to need them later!)

Second Key: Responsibility

This key step is all about taking responsibility for your actions in the present.

Let's be real.

We don’t always get to choose what happens to us, but it’s our responsibility to make the most out of it.

Moreover, never forget you are your own creator, you are the only one who has the power and responsibility to change your own life.

It's not the job of someone else to take responsibility for your attitudes.

So stop blaming others for your failures and start coming up with actions to grow from it and become a better person.

If you want to think positive and build a positive mindset you have to work for it.

Own your shit.

Plus, the second Key step is also action-based.

It means to execute your own vision.

Exercise:

I want you to take your notes out about your vision exercise.

Make a list and come up with daily actions you want and could do to create some steps to move towards your ideal image of the visioning exercise.

Here are some sample questions to ask yourself :

  • What are some steps I need to do to move towards my vision?

  • What is one thing I could start doing today to improve the quality of my life?

  • What do I need to change to start thinking more positive?

  • What are some things you enjoy doing?

  • What activities help you feel most like yourself?

  • Who do you need to spend less time with?

3 actions I recommend to help you build a positive mindset are:

  1. Surround yourself with supportive, positive people

  2. Think about positive memories, which make you smile

  3. Start your day with a positive affirmation

Every moment is an opportunity for you to show yourself who you are and who you want to be.

One thing to keep in mind is that building a positive mindset is a process.

It's extremely important that you come up with small actions that bring lots of excitement, joy, fun.

It will be easier to keep you motivated during the process.

Moreover, building a positive mindset is like exercising a muscle.

The more positive actions you take, the stronger your positive mindset will become, and the faster it will be for you to shift from problem-focused to solution focused.

Third Key: Opportunity

This is the hardest key step because you have to go back to the past and start seeing the opportunity in negative situations.

I am aware that you don't master this key step in one afternoon.

To be honest with you,

It took me more than just a few days to master this step and I am not expecting you to master it either in a few days.

Take your time.

It's totally understandable that it's hard for you to accept and let go of your past, which has a huge impact in your life.

I firmly believe that if there is negativity, there must be positivity too.

Moreover, the power of choice lies within you.

You consciously choose if you want to focus on what happened to you, being the victim.

Or accept that you can't change the past and let go of your past define who you are.

Learn to accept your past even if it means to forgive someone or learn to cope with your anger.

This is not a race or a game where it's about winning or losing.

It's your life and as long as you are still alive,

Guess what!

You already won.

Never forget your past is not who you are.

It's just a part of you and you decide how much power it has.

Moreover, it is important to accept your past.

If you don’t accept your past you don’t accept your present self. Period.

Unconditionally love your past, because it made you the person who you are now.

That's something you should be f****** proud of.

Look how far you come.

How much you failed and succeeded in life.

How much you experienced and you still haven't given up, that's amazing!

Be proud of yourself.

You are doing a GREAT JOB!

Exercise:

Revisit some past memories, which have some negative energies.

Try to find something positive about it, an opportunity for growth.

I recommend starting small.

Some questions you can ask yourself while you are revisiting your past:

  • What is one lesson from this past experience?

  • What can I learn from this?

  • What is a more empowering way to look at this?

  • Where is the opportunity for growth here?

  • How can I learn to accept this without tolerating it in the present?

Acceptance or Forgiveness doesn't mean that you tolerate the same past action in the present.

Learn your lessons from your past experiences, so you can grow from it and learn how to prevent history from repeating itself.

A Personal Tip:

One thing I had to learn the hard way.

Don't beat yourself up for what happened in the past you didn't have the knowledge and the experience you have today.

Bonus Key: Reminder

This bonus key step is one of my favorite steps to build a positive mindset.

It reminded me not to forget to think positive no matter what.

Plus, it’s not only a reminder for you, but also for your friends & family.

Basically, everyone is going to benefit from it.

Yeah, a win-win situation for everyone.

The best part of it was that I wasn't even aware of the empowering impact it had on me and my surrounding until a few years ago.

exercise:

EVERY TIME someone is complaining about life or leaving a negative comment and thought you just have to do those two steps:

  • Say "Think Positive" & Smile.

After you did those two steps just keep on smiling and don't say anything anymore.

Probably they will start to get upset or angry.

Don't take it personally when they get upset and angry. (ProTip)

However, subconsciously you are planting the seed, which will help them to think positive, even if they don't feel like it.

I to do this all the time around negative people and believe me, it works every single time.

They start to hate me and be angry with me for a short period of time, but in the end, it makes them see another perspective and helps them to start to think positive.

My favorite part of this step is when I feel sad or I am in a bad mood, my friends will start to say “Think positive Ivan“.

Their intention might probably be to make me feel angry or upset me like they feel every time I say those words.

BUT

Ever time they say think positive, it reminds me that there is always another way to look at things.

It immediately helps me to get out of this negative energy and consciously choose not just to think positive, but also to be positive.

It reminds me that it's my choice if I want to focus on the solutions, rather on the problems.

Plus, if you want to take this exercise to the next level just come up with something positive every time you say the words "think positive".
